Mud season in New Hampshire and Vermont arrives in early spring, when winter loosens its grip and the frozen ground begins to thaw.

Usually, New Englanders don’t complain much about the cold.  It’s winter, after all, and you get used to it.  They also don’t complain much about the snow.
