Record Setting Winter Storm

On February 23, 2026, the Northeast disappeared beneath a storm that rewrote the region’s weather history. What began as a slow-moving winter system intensified overnight into a colossal nor’easter.  From Washington, D.C. to northern Maine, snowfall totals shattered long-standing records. Major metropolitan areas—New York City, Boston, Providence, and Hartford—were buried under three to four feet of snow, with drifts towering twice that height in exposed neighborhoods. Here at Juniper Hill Farm, we were spared the brunt of the storm with only about a foot of new snow added to the already deep snow pack.  Nevertheless, there were significant wind guts along with blowing snow that threatened power outages which made keeping the generator clean and on standby.  The following day, when the snow stopped, cleanup began and the sound of plows and snow blowers could be heard in every neighborhood in town.
