If the cold and snowy weather outside is not conducive for spring flowers, you need to buy a bunch and bring them into the studio to photograph.
I shot this vase of tulips with a combination of strobe and speedlight. The strobe, inside an octagon softbox with grid was the main keylight, while a speedlight inside a snoot fitted with a grid and a purple gel illuminated a neutral grey background sweep. In post, I added a texture to the background in Photoshop and then stylized the final image with an oil paint effect to give it more the appearance of a painting. The things you go through to get a flower fix when springtime arrives late!
